Welcome. Are you well? Illness is the topic for this newsletter. There is a lot of it about. Ponders – now that sounds familiar doesn’t it. Why is there so much illness about, do you think? Do you think? Still, after my words of last time. Seriously though have you ever thought, really thought, about why there is so much illness? Does it not trouble you that doctors’ waiting rooms are filled; that it can take a week or more to actually get to see one of these gods if your problem is not immediately life-threatening. Does it not trouble you to see hospitals overwhelmed with the very problems they were created to heal.

Heal! Bit of a dirty word in the orthodox world of medicine. You see they don’t ‘heal’ in any real sense of the word. They fix, they repair, they make it so you can manage, they make it so your symptoms disappear. Now, to many a disappearance of symptoms is synonymous with healing and if that is you then I will not seek to argue that you are unhealed even though you have no symptoms.

Let me clarify. A child, who is not nurtured by parents, to the extent that a child needs nurturing, discovers that when he has a cold he gets tucked up in bed, cuddled, and nursed. This child discovers that when he has something more serious like, flu, or measles, he gets all of those things lots. This child may even discover that something that is so serious that a hospital stay is necessary gets it not only from his parents but from doctors and nurses too.

Let me suggest another child who happens to be ill, with a stomach pain, one day when something unpleasant is taking place at school, like sports day, or inoculation day… Amazingly next time something unpleasant is happening at school another stomach pain, or vomiting or headache, provides an escape.

Now let us move into the future with two adults who learned early on that illness is beneficial to us in that it brings us what we want indirectly. And all we have to do is feel uncomfortable for a day or two or three or four… The interesting thing is that those patterns of avoidance, and calls for love/affection/touch, will have been maintained into adulthood – but, and this is the interesting bit – the individual will be unaware of the connection. They will just find themselves catching colds or flu’s at times that coincide with these other needs. They may even think of themselves as weak or with a poor immune system function. There is no conscious control over this. It is unconscious behaviour. But what it means is that illness is not directly the consequence of pathogens or faulty genetic material. It is the result of a mind-state, a belief system.

Now to go back to the medical world and it’s ‘cure’. For the one who gets flu when they really want to be loved and touched and cared for – is an inoculation that prevents activation of the disease a cure? You tell me.

I am talking here of minor ‘infections’ and there is a whole world out there of serious illness, genetic damage, suffering people who have bodies that are excruciating to live in. So how can what I say possibly relate to that world of real illness and disease?

I would suggest that rather than listen to me, that you become your own scientist. Talk to people who have illnesses. Talk to them about their childhood experience of being ill. Ask them about what illness means to them; what benefits it brings them. Depression might be hell on earth, but if working is Hell for real then there is a benefit. A serious illness might allow avoidance of a bullying boss and still provide an income from benefits. You will always find reasons if you ask the right questions. I need to emphasise that there is no conscious process going on here, it is simply love seeking love automatically.

But rather than looking to the illness of others for answers – dare you look to your own ‘illness’ for those same answers. There will be a reason. It is likely to lie in your past. It will be based on your beliefs about illness. If you see illness as something caused by germs that are stronger than your immune system you will have problems with infections. If you see illness as genetic malfunction/inheritance then you will experience illnesses of that nature, or illnesses of that nature will be around you.

Open your eyes and be open to what is real rather than what you have been conditioned to believe.
