The ghost-club was asked to investigate a ghostly spirit, bed sharing with the owner of a dwelling in Cambridgeshire. This is the story so far as told, by the owners of the property.
The property is a beautiful 200-year-old former farm workers cottage. It has been extended over a period of time, by the owners who have experienced the strange ghostly happenings.
The owner Mr X was previously married and both he and his former wife both experienced cold spots in the house, a sense of being observed, creaking of floorboards and many other trivial strange things. Neither of them paid much attention to it, just believing it’s to do with old houses. As time moved on the marriage unfortunately didn’t last. Mr X went on to find a new partner and once she had moved into the premises things really started to hot up, spiritually that is.
Since January this year Mr X has had to replace a hatch door 20 times. This door hatch is strong thick wood. You will notice from the picture I took of the hatch there is nothing special or strange about it. It would literally break in two. He obviously was getting rather confused as to why it kept breaking and at the same time cross about this. He checked the loft space and there was no wind, or draft that could cause this. You have to physically lift it up and smash it down again, although this didn’t cause the splits. He has tried to mimic the action given to cause this damage, but couldn’t. It was in the room upstairs where the new partner remarked had a strange feeling. One day whilst hovering the upstairs landing, she felt there was such a cold draft she must have left the bedroom window open. She called Mr X as she was alarmed by the amount of blue bottles present in the room, there were hundreds of them flying around. One needs to remember there are no bluebottles in January. Naturally he though there had been some sort of animal dead and was decomposing. He opened the window and shut the door believing they would all escape. He left the room for several hours before entering again. The partner went back into the room and discovered all of the flies were lying dead. She naturally checked to see if Mr X had sprayed the room to kill the flies. No he hadn’t. What could have caused all these flies to have died. He later checked the attic and there was no carcus or decomposing creature. There was no smell either. This was when he noticed the loft hatch was broken and pulled at an angle. I might add this bedroom is relatively new 1986 so not part of the old original dwelling.
Mr X and his partner told us that every single morning between 1 am and 2.30 am they have a visit. Neither of them can see but both of them can hear their visitor stomping around upstairs. They experience no strange smells just cold, really ice cold spots. It has been happening now for some time.
I might add that Mr X partner has been seeing and experiencing spirit all her life and felt it strange and unnerving, as she couldn’t see him. I asked why she felt it was a him as she couldn’t see it. She said she knew the different feelings of male and female energy.
Mr X had back and rib injuries and had to go into hospital for care. When coming home he couldn’t make the stairs and was made comfortable by his partner in a reclining chair. She would make sure he had all that he required for the night and go upstairs to bed. No sooner had she got into bed and was settled down, rolled onto her side, she felt the bed de-press behind her and felt a weight get into bed next to her. She naturally was in this relaxed state of mind and thought nothing of it assuming it was Mr X coming to bed. Her logic mind kicked in and realised it couldn’t be him as he couldn’t have made the stairs. She lay there for what seemed like hours thinking what should I do. An icy arm came around her shoulders. She felt the cold penetrating her skin. Terrified to move and yet terrified to stay she was in a dilemma. She craned her neck slightly to see if she could see from her peripheral view the cold icy fingers around her upper arm. She felt each one of them tightly grasping her. She could see nothing. She decided she would very slowly move her body away from the grasp towards the outer part of the bed. He moved his fingers deeper into her skin. This terrified her even more when she heard and felt icy breath in the back of her neck. His spirit body moved even closer to hers and she could feel from the top of her head to her toes ice. The breathing got deeper and more precise, ‘pervy like’ she said. With this she shot out of bed and went downstairs to tell Mr x. Naturally he was alarmed but what could he do. She was absolutely convinced she had not dreamt this. The next night she slept on the sofa downstairs all seemed quite apart form the usual creaking floorboards and stomping footsteps. So disturbed and frightened the partner settled herself down on the sofa. She was lulled off to sleep my Mr X snoring. No sooner had she got off to sleep a very heavy weight was on top of her. She woke up with a start tried to call out to her partner for help, but no words came out of her mouth. She was paralysed, she couldn’t move or say anything. She said she was aware of everything happening She confirmed the spirit had not touched her in any sexual way but was frightened this was what was coming next. For what seemed like an age with his heavy breathing on her face, which may have been only seconds the paralysed state left her. She woke Mr X up and told him of her experience. This was when they called us for help and insight as to why this was happening.

THE REPORT
The ghost-club were called out to investigate, record and contact the spirit who refuses to rest.
The ghost-club’s aim when called out to such an investigation is to conduct tests, record findings, highlight areas of activity and try and prove existence of spirits. It is not our first intention to rid the spirit from the dwelling, but to communicate with it and try to help and understand. It can be bad misinterpretation on our part if we are to go in dwellings with all guns blazing.
On these house cleanses we also try to educate the clients to understand why this has happened and the best ways to protect themselves by mental imagery. Generally when we do these cleanses the clients wish to become involved themselves. They love to participate taking base line test, photography and use the equipment we have at hand. By doing this they are left more relaxed, protected and therefore less frightened.
The address for the location was given to me 3 times, which is very strange to say the least, as I do not loose things. The Sat Nav was charged up and given directions. As a backup I also did a multimap just in case.
It was a lovely clear calm evening; as soon as we had started our journey which takes 35 minutes the Sat Nav decides to die on us, saying no charge! Just as well I did a back up. We arrived at the destination at around 10.30pm
When we arrived we were met by Mr X and Parnter. They were both extremely good hosts to us; the kettle was on immediately. After taking down the most recent happenings we set about conducting base-line tests. Partner was really getting involved with the gadgets we had brought with us. She said she already felt so much better knowing help was at hand. It was a beautiful house, well loved and cared for. I sensed a cold spot on the second step of the staircase from the study she confirmed this is exactly where she feels she is almost pushed. Infact several times both of them have lost their footings, in this exact spot. The EMF recorded high. Iris was using the anglerods, which went crazy, both she and the partner were having a field day, almost like football supporters twisting their rattles around and around. :frown: I went back onto the stairs and tuned into his personality, I felt him strongly there watching us and felt he was miffed by us being there, a little unsure also. Brian had taken Mr X upstairs already to get a feel for the possible portal entrance. He also commented on the 3 porcelain clowns he had in the house and asked them to be removed from the premises, as they tend to hold negative energies.
We went onto take digital photos of the main bedroom of activity. Iris took some very strange photos, which we could all see had a shadowy figure leaning over the Partners side of the bed. Once downloading them onto the PC they had gone, they were witnessed by all. Iris and I sat in the dark on our own in the bedroom, asking for him to come and join us. With the sound recorder, recording. We asked many questions leaving long blanks for the answers. When checking this later, not only had there been nothing recorded but all files had been erased. Very strange. There was no smell but icy spots. Still the feeling of being watched was strong.
We set trigger alarms in the portal room after examining it, nothing untowards felt. He wasn’t going to perform for us. We went back downstairs and took our hot drinks into the lounge, this is where they said you can clearly hear his stomping footsteps directly above in the bedroom of main activity. Maybe we were too close to him and put him off. Healing and meditative imagery was given to them. We waited and waited. He was not coming tonight; it was getting early, let alone late! He did not perform. We decided he must go, as he didn’t want to communicate. We did pick up milking of cows on a farm, a heavy set man, who had a black dog. Obviously he was set in his ways and it was and still is the house that he comes for.
We prayed for light and peace to return to the dwelling and wished him on his way.
The Partner asked me on the quite when leaving, is it gone now? is it likely to come back? I couldent tell her in all honesty that I thought he had. I felt he had his card striked, but that was all. I felt he would lie down low for a while but wouldent be surprised, if she was ringing again within a week or two to say the visitor was making a comeback. I hope I am wrong. He the visitor came over as having a very strong energy and spirit in the full sense of the word and that he wasn’t happy for people telling him what to do.
All was quite!
The Conclusion
Ghost Club rang Mr X and Partner A few days after the vigil to see how things were going. I’m glad to report all has gone quite. They said the house has become warm with no icy spots. The hatch loft door has remained in tact, this is the longest it has been. All in all they were happy and content to get on with their lives!
At the vigil Ghost club brought up several names and incidents, also a black dog was mentioned to have lived in the property. We also felt that the previous owner was the culprit. He was stern, stubborn and wanted things all his own way, in life a difficult character to say he least. He was a big fella and a bully to boot. We believe he wanted to stay in this house and not share it with anybody. It was the house and not the Partner that he was possessive about. By frightening the partner, it maybe, just maybe cause her to pressurise Mr X in selling and moving on. Unlucky for him the Partner is made of stronger stuff.
What was confusing us was the fact that, had it been a residual ghost, i.e. resident and going about his usual business as they did when they were alive. Getting up at 1.am and stomping around until 2.30am and then all quite, what could he have possibly done at that time in the morning, when asking this question out loud to the spirit I got the strong sense of milking cows by hand! How strange. The other thing as well to consider is that the main bedroom of activity was built in 1986 infact a new wing and not part of the original building at all.
We had asked the owners if there was anyway they could ask neighbours for any news about the previous owner as a point of reference.
Well they came back to us and this is what they said: The previous owner was called Derek. He lived their all his life with mother and father, the farmers. They owned a dairy milk farm. They owned 22 + acres of land. The family basically kept themselves to themselves. Derek has always been a little strange the next door neighbour had said. Infact he went on to say he was a bully. They all lived in this house and it was becoming a little cramped. The mother and father moved out leaving Derek there on his own, at his own request, there was no way he was being budged. They moved to the far end of the estate in a much larger farmhouse. Mother died leaving father quite old and infirm, he had asked Derek to move in with him now he was all on his own. No way he wouldn’t leave the house. Father took to getting in a full time carer as he had become quite weak and had a mobility problem. Again Derek was asked to help out, they had a massive argument and never spoke again, i.e. his stubbornness was coming through. Father could not maintain living in the large house, even with help and resorted to living in a nursing home. His long time carer visited him, took his favourite goodies and took him out when possible. There were no family relatives. Still they didn’t speak and on fathers death Derek found out they he had not inherited the house or land the carer did, the lot. Well you can imagine how this went down; he was also the laughing stock of the village. He started to attack the carer, verbally saying she had tricked his father into this but there was no chance of him changing the will.
During this period Derek had married and she was not able to have say in things. The neighbour and Derek had had a dispute over boundary levels. The quarrel resulted in a fistfight. The neighbour won.
Derek was very annoyed said the neighbour and tried to scare him off the property and out of his house. He would go around the neighbour’s house in the early hours of the morning and with a branch of a tree scratch all the windows of his property to make believe it was haunted! Strange one. He would throw stones and all sorts of odd things. Derek’s wife was subservient and did as she was told.
Derek took himself to an early grave a bittered and disappointed man; he was just 58 years old. He died of a heart attack. His wife left the house, the village and found herself a new life.
The neighbour was asked, did he have a dog. Yes it was a brown Labrador, he got run over when he was about 10. ‘Ok not black, but dark’
‘Houdini Clowns’
Coming back now to present times, Mr X removed the 3 clowns as he was told they hold negative energies. Partner was really happy about this as she had never liked them and was glad to see the back of them. The following day after our vigil Mr X witnessed by partner took a large black sack and collected all 3 of them up. One by one they went into the sack. Partner remembers quite distinctly seeing him do this and tying a double knot. He threw them into his truck and off they both went to the dump with some other items. At the dump witnessed again by Partner she saw Mr X throw the black sack amongst other items into the dump.
Ah she felt a sense of relief, so did Mr X, but it was short lived!
On their way back home, they turned the corner and approached their road. Partner screamed at Mr X to stop the car. Alarmed he did as he was told. Partner pointed out to Mr X their road sign on the junction and there sitting as bold as brass on the top of the sign was one of the clowns. They couldn’t understand how on earth it had escaped. Houdini wasn’t as clever as this as it was sitting on top of their sign with his hand to his mouth as if it was shushing them to be quite. Amazed and bewildered they drove past it very slowly looking at it in their peripheral view. They simply could not work it out. The next day they drove out again and as sure as life there it sat still on the road sign but its position had changed. It had its thumb placed out and was hitching a lift. Well amazed or not they began to laugh. Obviously someone had seen it and had placed it in this position. It was there for another day before it disappeared. I wonder if Derek’s spirit went with it! I can confirm Derek was short lived he is back in the house, getting up at 1.00 and bashing around until 2.30am. It has not visited or come near partner. She has shouted out loud that if he keeps to his part of the house, he can remain. If he oversteps the mark and comes too close he gets the chop! We await.
